Abstract

Technology transfer in aerospace engineering is a complex process through which scientific knowledge is transformed into validated engineering solutions suitable for further development and practical implementation. This study aims to develop a systems-based framework that integrates research, engineering design, experimental testing, automation, education, and industrial cooperation. The methodology combines a focused review of research on innovation ecosystems and university–industry knowledge transfer with a conceptual analysis of four aerospace-related research and development areas: the selection and optimisation of environmentally preferable monopropellants for a detonation engine, ramjet engine testing, product automation systems, and terahertz technologies for navigation applications. The analysis identifies experimental validation as an essential mechanism for testing assumptions, improving engineering decisions, characterising operating limits, and reducing technological uncertainty. A cyclic technology transfer framework is proposed, linking problem definition, research, engineering development, prototyping, testing, data analysis, integration, implementation, and feedback. The framework extends a linear research-to-production model by treating test infrastructure, higher education, intellectual property management, and international cooperation as interconnected components of technology development. The analysis also highlights the importance of transferring not only technical documentation but also the knowledge and verification methods needed to reproduce and further develop a solution. The proposed framework is conceptual and does not claim quantitative validation or measured improvements in technology readiness. It provides a basis for organising aerospace technology transfer around evidence of technical viability and coordinated stakeholder engagement. Further research should evaluate the framework through documented industrial cases and measurable implementation indicators.
